It's remarkable how you can feed a toxic boss the exact same rhetoric they fed at you. Yet somehow, they still probably couldn't ascertain your message. In this instance, we have a boss who claimed to be so sick that they found themselves unable to pay their former employee for their work during her final weeks on the job.
Clearly, based on the boss's heated response, there is still quite a bit of resentment toward the employee for quitting. The boss then had the audacity to use the classic 'your reputation is everything' speech, which at this point, seems to be rhetoric that every manager is trained to use when their employee tries to call them out on questionable behavior. As you can see from how folks responded in the comments section, that mentality simply does not apply when it comes to fairly compensating your employees. The labor board certainly wouldn't think so, anyway.
